Visiting California had been on my bucket list for the longest. There were two reasons why. Back in the day, I loved rollercoasters. I still do, but I can only handle so much of it now that I'm older. I would play Rollercoaster Tycoon and there was one park that stood out to me. It's called Six Flags Magic Mountain. They have the gnarliest coasters haha. The second reason was In-N-Out. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos. But that is another reason for me to go back. It exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be like typical frozen fast food and it isn't. It tasted fresh!
My job is what allowed me to go to LA. We went there to do a photoshoot for a campaign that introduces what we do to the public. I didn't know there were so many people involved in taking photos. I mean, I knew that, but didn't know their exact roles in detail. So that was a cool experience learning the behind the scenes of a shoot. In a world where we spend 1 second looking at hundreds of photos a day, it's easy to forget how much effort and work is behind them all.
My coworker and I had a free weekend before the shoot so we went to LACMA. On the way there, we saw the tar pits! One thing that stood out to me about LA is its terrain. I was fascinated with the contrast of cactuses, mountains, and my favorite tall palm trees. The mid century buildings standing still like a time capsule. Such a strong presence of modernism in the city.
LA won my heart. I knew it would. There so much I didn't see and do. See you again soon.
